Victoria Heart House

The Heart House is designed as a Bed & Breakfast accommodation intended to be your “Home away from Home” and to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The house provides a friendly, non-smoking, supportive and relaxing atmosphere.

The house is bright and modern, with a larger living room, dining room and kitchen, and 6 guests bedrooms, each with either a queen, double or twin beds. The surroundings are comfortable and pleasant with an outside patio and garden.

The Victoria Heart House has served the needs of spouses and families of patients undergoing open heart surgery since 1983.

The original Heart House was started by Jim and Dorothy McDonald. They leased a house on Kings Road and using their own funds, established the first Victoria Heart House. Their dream of a permanent Heart House finally came true with the completion of the present building in 1988.

On January 17, 1989, The Victoria Heart House was officially opened by the premier and dedicated to the people of British Columbia. The Society’s main function is that of providing support, encouragement and information to patients and families needing cardiac care.
